Shadmehr Aghili

Artists often struggle to express themselves, but Shadmehr Aghili was undeterred. He enrolled in an arts school in Tehran, where he honed his skills in composition and performance. His creativity and dedication allowed him to navigate the restrictive environment, ultimately emerging as a unique voice in Iranian music.

In 1997, Shadmehr released his first album, **Bahareman** (“My Spring”), which showcased a collection of classic and folkloric music arranged and performed by him using instruments such as the violin, guitar, piano, and keyboard. This marked the beginning of his professional recording career. That same year, he debuted his vocal work with the album **Mabood**, followed by his complete vocal album, **Mosafer** (“The Traveler”).

Shadmehr’s innovative spirit shone through in 1999 with the release of **Dehati** (“The Villager”), an album that blended rock and roll, 6’n’8, and popular rhythms. Despite his groundbreaking work, none of his songs could be played on public media due to governmental restrictions. He tirelessly sought permission to release his anticipated album **Adam o Hava** (Adam & Eve) in 2001, but instead faced a ban that prevented him from performing as a singer or musician and from appearing on television.

With limited options and a desire to continue his musical career without restrictions, Shadmehr made the difficult decision to leave Iran in 2002. Relocating to Canada, he sought the freedom to express his artistic vision. Since then, he has released several successful albums, including **Khiali Nist** (“No Worries”), **Adamforoush** (“Traitor,” 2004), and **Popcorn**, further solidifying his place in the music industry.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Shadmehr has also ventured into acting, appearing in two films: **Pare Parvaz** (2000) and **Shabe Berahneh** (2001). His multifaceted talent continues to resonate with fans around the world, demonstrating his enduring impact on Persian pop music.

Today, Shadmehr Aghili is not only a symbol of artistic resilience but also an inspiration for aspiring musicians, proving that passion and creativity can thrive even in the face of adversity. His journey reflects the spirit of a true artist, dedicated to sharing his music and connecting with audiences across borders.
