The celebrated contemporary Japanese restaurant expands to River Rock Casino Resort bringing its signature Aburi Oshi Sushi to Richmond
Richmond, BC, February 24, 2025 – Aburi Restaurants Canada and River Rock Casino Resort are thrilled to announce the newest Miku location is set to debut this summer at River Rock Casino Resort. Known for its award-winning contemporary Japanese cuisine, Miku Richmond will offer an elevated dining experience in a stunning new waterfront location.
“We have many loyal guests who live in Richmond and with its proximity to the Vancouver International Airport, River Rock is an ideal setting for our second Miku location in Metro Vancouver,” said Seigo Nakamura, founder and CEO, Aburi Restaurants Canada.
The expansion to Richmond marks a significant milestone for Miku which first opened in Coal Harbour 17 years ago and later introduced its distinctive offerings in Toronto a decade ago. Known for its innovative use of West Coast ingredients alongside Japanese flavours, Miku is credited with pioneering and popularizing the now ubiquitous Aburi Oshi Sushi in Canada.
“We are delighted to welcome Miku Richmond to River Rock as we continue to elevate our culinary experiences,” stated Wayne Odegard, Regional Vice President, BC Operations, Great Canadian Entertainment. “Anyone who has dined at Miku understands the exceptional quality and artistry behind their cuisine. Miku is a fantastic addition to our dynamic entertainment destination and perfectly complements our enhanced offerings.”
When it opens later this summer, Miku will join the newly launched Gordon Ramsay Steak – Michelin-starred Chef and television personality Gordon Ramsay’s first fine dining restaurant in Canada – as one of the latest culinary additions at the resort. These exciting openings are part of River Rock’s extensive enhancements in celebration of its 20th Anniversary.
“Miku has always been about crafting memorable dining experiences through innovation and tradition. I’m honoured that after nearly two decades, there continues to be an enduring love for our brand,” added Nakamura.
Miku Richmond will be located at 8811 River Rd, Richmond, BC V6X 3P8. Further details will be announced soon.

Seigo Nakamura, founder of the Tora Corporation in Japan, is the visionary behind ABURI Restaurants’ MICHELIN Guide-recommended Miku Vancouver, Miku Toronto, Minami Yaletown, Minami Toronto, TORA, one Michelin star Aburi Hana, WA-BAGEL, ABURI Market, Aburi Sushi Waterworks, and Aburi Oshi Sushi in Austin, Texas. His unique concepts and business strategies have led to the creation and spread of Aburi style cuisine across Canada and the US. A trendsetter in all aspects, Seigo is never satisfied with settling for the norm. His unique twist on Aburi cuisine was created over a decade ago by innovating the idea of traditional Japanese flame-searing with the decadent and creamy sauces of French cuisine. Driven by this unconventional concept, Seigo introduces this fresh and addictive Aburi cuisine to the world.
Seigo also promotes the unique company philosophy of ‘Ningenmi.’ Literally translated as ‘the human flavour,’ Ningenmi is a Japanese term used to refer to a person with outstanding human qualities: sincerity, thoughtfulness, and passion. Seigo is a strong advocate of spreading ningenmi to his team, promoting a positive team dynamic within his restaurants.
