Great Canadian Awards 2024 PROUD Scholarship Recipients
For many families and students, the end of summer is a reminder of back to school, which means heavy tuition fees and an exhaustive list of other school-related expenses for several post-secondary students.
Great Canadian’s PROUD Scholarship program awards $1,500 scholarships to ten post-secondary students who’ve made a significant impact in their community through volunteering. PROUD Scholarship recipients are either dependents of one of the 7,000+ Great Canadian team members located across Canada or team members themselves who are studying while working at one of Great Canadian’s 25 properties.
“We’re delighted to get these scholarship cheques to the recipients in advance of the new semester, and we hope that it helps by removing a bit of the financial stress that can come with post-secondary education,” said Chuck Keeling, Great Canadian’s Executive Vice President of Stakeholder Engagement, Community and Social Responsibility. “It was rewarding to read through the stories from the applications and how much time and effort our team members and their families have devoted to supporting their community in meaningful ways. We learned a lot about some of our team members. We have team members who sit on the board of directors for local charities, read to children and volunteer at youth shelters and local schools, and countless active volunteers at vital local charities such as local food banks, homeless shelters, and social service agencies. We truly are proud of this group of scholarship recipients,” concluded Keeling.
