Nazareth with Special Guests Headpins
Nazareth
Nazareth is a Scottish rock band that emerged in the late 1960s and achieved international success in the 1970s. Formed in 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, the original lineup consisted of vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet.
The band’s breakthrough came with their 1973 album “Razamanaz,” featuring the hit single “Broken Down Angel.” Nazareth continued to gain popularity with a string of successful albums, including “Loud ‘n’ Proud” (1973), “Rampant” (1974), and “Hair of the Dog” (1975), which included the iconic title track.
Known for their gritty sound, powerful vocals, and blues-influenced hard rock, Nazareth maintained a consistent presence in the rock music scene. Despite lineup changes over the years, with McCafferty departing in 2013, the band has persevered, leaving a lasting impact on the classic rock genre. With a career spanning several decades, Nazareth remains a revered name in the history of rock music.
Headpins
The Headpins, a Canadian rock group formed as a side project in the late 1970s by Chilliwack members Ab Bryant and Brian MacLeod, quickly gained traction in the Vancouver music scene.
With vocalist Denise McCann initially onboard, the band evolved through various lineup changes, ultimately solidifying with lead vocalist Darby Mills in 1981. Despite early hurdles such as members’ commitments to other bands, the Headpins garnered success with hit singles like “Just One More Time.”
However, internal and external challenges led to lineup shifts and label troubles, culminating in a hiatus in the mid-1980s. Brian MacLeod’s passing in the mid-90s added to the band’s trials, but the spirit persisted with Darby Mills reuniting the group with original members Bryant and Bernie Aubin. Despite ongoing changes, the Headpins endure, now led by vocalist Katrina (Kat) Lawrence since 2016, maintaining their legacy in Canadian rock.
